Pixies – Where is My Mind (Bassnectar Remix)

December 19, 2009

So busy pushing it out to the world, someone should slap me silly for not spreading the love through my own bloggy blog.

It’s been only 2 days and the track has already swishhhed past Lady Gaga, Radiohead, and Massive Attack to sit pretty in the #1 spot on both Hype Machine’s Popular and Twitter Charts.

But before snatching the download, also pay tribute to the original makers and visit The Pixie’s site an cop some of their new (and FREE) drops as well —> http://www.pixiesmusic.com

whereismymindcoverFrom Lorin:

An anthem for living life at a dizzying pace, but refusing to slow down, obviously influenced by the legendary rock band THE PIXIES, this bootleg was 1 of the secret weapons of almost every show on the Cozza Frenzy tour, and now its yours for free:

Happy New Year! Merry Xmas! Happy Hanukkah! Joyous Atheism! Enraptured Humanism! Do as thou will, and blast this track!

Annnddd, for the DJs in the house, Bassnectar has also dropped a copy of the instrumental version in the little music shop at http://remixes.bassnectar.net.
“This is just a simple chunk of bass and beats, probably not dubstep because it is 20 bpm faster, probably not D&B because it doesn’t follow the rules, but its thick and deep and it should be yours. If you are a DJ and want a nice instrumental banger for your sets, this jam has some heavy bass and a nice clean beat loop at the beginning running at 85 bpm…perfect to thicken up any hip hop, drum & bass, dub, downtempo or dubstep track, also a nice little acapella synth at the end… — L”

BigFace

A personal favorite… the one and only BIGFACE, as well as long-time Austin favorites Manny and Orion, needs no introduction. But, I will continue to post this clip of him demonstrating the Roland SP-555. Why… because it’s SICK!

Manny

Busy settling DJ Dojo studios into its new home at the 411 creative warehouse, taking Los Banditos on the road to tour with Beats Antique, as well as with DJ residencies at Red Fez and Malverde, Manny brings in the mayhem to the three rounds of music for the night. From what I heard, completed killed it at Symbiosis. I wasn’t there, and am still not happy talking about it. Boo. If I was, my ass would likely still be shakin.

Check out Manny’s Los Banditos set from their Cali tour last month. Noice!

Orion

If you need to read this text, then your not from Austin. In that case, welcome to A-town… and please don’t move here. Completing a European tour earlier in the year, Orion closes out 2009 on home turf, blending a solid foundation of Salsa, hiphop, and electronic beats mashed with elements of dancehall, Cumbia, bhangra, baile funk, dupstep, jazz, minimal techno, onions, brown sugar, pecans, and hot sauce. Oh… you’re still reading. Click the play button already. Geebus.
