Baby Got Bacteria, Big Mess, and Foot Patrol

.!.

We usually focus on the electronica, dance, and world-beat corners of Austin’s local music scene, but you have to step out the genre-flavored box every once in a while to discover new sounds that are ripe for sample plucking.

Characterized by wickedly funky bass lines, gang vocals, blond Afros, and curiously fresh guitar riffs, as well as a massive stage presence, Baby Got Bacteria is truly one of the best bands in Austin. Think Mr. Bungle and Windy O getting down inside a bathroom stall at CBGB’s while Frank Zappa bangs on the stall wall in perfect tempo. Oh yeah, it’s good. And with songs like, “Cooties” and “Gettin’ Out of the Car With No Panties On,” you can be assured that the night will be interesting.

But! There’s more. Add one of the biggest foot fetishes this side of the Colorado River and a few Devo hats and you’ve got yourself the makings for a twisted and glorious party.

Baby Got Bacteria is performing with Devo wannabes Big Mess and the one and only Foot Patrol on Saturday, January 10 at Room 710 in Austin’s downtown Red River district. Free cover for the inside bar, and only 5 buck-a-roos for the stage area. Room 710 is located at 710 Red River. Its the last night of free week… make it count.
