The Art of Audio Engineering: Article Roundup v.1

The audio engineering community morns the loss of Dr. John Eargle, founder of Harman International Industries (parent company of JBL). Eargle was part of the product development activities that are responsible for delivery many professional JBL products (including multi-channel surround sound). He also engineered recordings for Grammy winners Joe Williams and Ruth Brown and was awarded the Grammy for Best Engineered Album: Classical for Dvorak: Dvorák: Requiem, Op. 89; Sym. No. 9, Op. 95.

Remix magazine has posted a great article about Bebel Gilberto’s international studio crawl to capture a sounds that are as unique as the studio she is recording in (not to mention the pitfalls associated with recording a track out of a apartment in Brooklyn during a NYC heatwave).

The World Records Academy reports that construction of the world’s largest bubble-shaped record studio comes to a wrap on Pier 54 in NYC.

How the CD Replication Process Works

For bands in the process of manufacturing their next CD release, here is a clip of how the CD replication process works. If you have studied at Mediatech, we’re sure you already know about why the recording and audio mastering process is important. You do know about the data (ISRC, cue sheets, copyright info) you will need to include with your release? Have you got the paperwork you need to register the release with Neilsen Soundscan and with the Library of Congress? Have you prepared a press release for local, state, and national media?
