Imagine a world of steam power and clever invention; of jugglers and clowns and trapeze; of bands and DJs and dancing. There will be a circus-style midway laced with performers that will lead to the main stage where the musicians and DJs will entice your body to dance till you drop…or laugh till your face hurts! So don your top hats or bowlers, dust off your goggles and set your pocket watches because on May 15th we travel to a realm of mind-blowing, nostalgic fantasy that you’ll never forget.

The line up includes performers like the Elemental Uprising Fire Troupe, 999 Eyes Museum of Mutantsrosities, Mr. Cirque, Schave & Reilly, Carousel Cabaret, and Brass Ovaries Pole Dancers, as well as music performances by White Ghost Shivers, Lions, Minor Mishap Marching Band.

Headling DJ’s KLEVER, Bassbin Twins vs Uberzone, DJ Manny, An-ten-nae, and Snakecharmer will be keeping the party going after sundown.

Presented by Orbit Salon and Aqua Blue, GRIT ‘N’ GLAMOUR highlights the catwalk with a local fusion of High Fashion Hair and Cutting Edge Style. Watch as local stylists and boutiques join forces to bring you the latest in hip and sophisticated trends.

MC-ed by Jeff Davis with music by DJ GMAU, Rook, and Guest musical act with a special intermission performance by Sage of Sangre del Sol. Doors open at 8pm – Runway at 9pm.

All proceeds benefit Austin Pets Alive, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving homeless pets and making Austin a no-kill city. Suggested donation of $7 or pet food.

Orbit Salon is the hippest salon on Austin’s trendy Eastside, and Aqua Blue are urban trendsetters featured in North Central Austin. Together, they serve the latest trends in cut and color that make Austin a driving force in the fashion and beauty industry.

After years of Art Outside events at the Enchanted Forest {insert tear drop and pouty face here}, the crew of Art Outside emerges back on the Austin landscape with one of the largest events in the crew’s history. With performances by Sage and the Sangre del Sol fire troupe, as well as touring performers like Freq Nasty (say what?!?) and Reggie Watts, this years event finally put a stake in the ground for establishing a large-scale arts festival for central Texas.

Art Outside will run from October 9th through the 11th and will be held just east of Austin at Apache Pass–a sprawling, privately-owned ranch on the banks of the San Gabriel river in Rockdale, TX .Presale tickets are available now. 3-day passes including camping are only $50, with single day passes set at $29. The prices will increase incrementally starting September 21st.

Now in its 6th year, Art Outside has evolved dramatically from its roots as an unofficial SXSW party at the Enchanted Forest. When festival founder Tyler Hanson moved to Portland earlier in the year, he passed the torch to current producer Warren McKinney, local artist and founder of Art Seen Alliance. This year Warren and his crack team community of volunteers have invested significantly more energy (and money) into what promises to be a biggest and best AO to date. We got a chance to sit down with festival organizers Warren McKinney and Sarah Johnston (performance coordinator and dancer/aerialist  “Agent Red“). I’ll be including bits of those conversations throughout this post.

Journey Into Poi is an introduction into many aspects of Poi spinning. Although aimed toward beginning to intermediate spinners, there is so much information on this 3-hour DVD that any level can receive something from it.

She also shares extensive information regarding warm-ups, cool downs, stretches, detailed break-downs of poi moves, fire safety, first aid, equipment, community, and spiritual aspects of spinning.
